Biography of Hye-Jin Rhee
Hye-Jin Rhee was born in Daegu, South Korea, in 1989, into a family that held a deep respect for tradition and artistic innovation.
Raised in an environment rich in cultural stimuli, Hye-Jin developed an affinity for art from a young age, particularly for drawing and painting, which often led her to seek refuge in imaginary worlds created by her vivid imagination.
Determined to follow her passion, Hye-Jin enrolled at the Seoul Academy of Fine Arts, where she was able to refine her technical skills and deepen her understanding of visual arts.
Her academic journey exposed her to various art forms, but it was her personal quest for balance and serenity that guided her towards Buddhist spirituality, which she began to integrate into her artistic practice.
After completing her studies in Korea, Hye-Jin decided to expand her horizons by moving to the United States, where she immersed herself in the study of psychology.
This new academic adventure at the University of Chicago in Illinois allowed her to explore the intersection between art and mental well-being, a theme that would become central to her future work.
With a degree in psychology, Hye-Jin combined her academic training with her spiritual and artistic practice to create an innovative series of coloring books for adults. Inspired by the principles of mindfulness and Buddhist meditation, these books are designed to offer users a relaxing and meditative experience, while also promoting mindfulness and mental presence.
In addition to her authorial work, Hye-Jin conducts workshops and seminars teaching how art can be used as a tool for healing and personal growth. Through her work, Hye-Jin Rhee aspires to create a bridge between cultures, demonstrating how artistic practice can serve as a universal language to explore and deepen our inner selves.
Today, Hye-Jin lives between the United States and South Korea, continuing to explore and expand the boundaries of her artistic and therapeutic work. Her life and art are a testimony to the transformative power of creativity, spiritual commitment, and intercultural dialogue.
